British Psychological Society Undergraduate Scholarship. I am interested in hearing from any current third year students at Abertay who wish to apply with me for a scholarship to carry out a research project over the summer. Students should be on course to gain a 2.1 degree. The scholarship, if awarded, provides the student with funding to carry out a specific research project within 6-8 weeks over the summer, which they would then present as a poster at a BPS conference. Please discuss with me if you wish to work on a project related to my research interests (Attraction/Rivalry - see Publications for details). I have some pre-prepared projects but am interested in hearing from students if they have relevant ideas.

Postgraduate Study
The School offers the following research degrees: one-year MSc by Research, two-year MPhil or three-year PhD. I am willing to hear from prospective students who express an interest in projects related to the science of attraction and rivalry. If you are interested in study opportunities, please contact me ([email protected]). Currently I can only accept self-funded students. If you are considering Masters/PhD it is recommended that you approach a potential supervisor to discuss at least 3/4 months before you would intend to start, with more time added for non-UK students in order to process any paperwork. Masters by research students are accepted at Abertay in September and January.
Volunteer
I am happy to hear from current students at Abertay who wish to gain experience as a research assistant in the lab. Being a research assistant enables you to learn about research in psychology, gives you hand-on experience with the scientific process (and the world of research) and may earn you a useful reference or experience to add to your CV. Duties may involve running participants through the lab, organizing appointments and administering surveys/tests, data input, image processing, being a confederate and potentially the chance to develop research ideas of your own. Students must be conscientious and organized, interested in general research area of the lab and ideally interested in a career in research (the latter is by no means essential). The Department recruits student volunteers during June and January, with work carried out during term time limited to a maximum of 4 hours per week. Carnegie Scholarships are also available for students to apply for at set times in the year, with a small fund awarded to a student who gains the scholarship. On both counts, please contact me if you are interested in applying.
